Hmmmm...Absinth (also spelled Absinthe or Absynth/e) is a strong alcoholic liqueur made with herbal extracts, the main herb being wormwood (Artemisia absintheium). It is an emerald green drink with a distinctive bitter taste and is therefore traditionally consumed by diluting a shot of Absinthe with some cold water and a spoonful of sugar. The drink then turns an attractive opaque white as the essential oils precipitate out into the drink. Absinth was once popular among artists and writers and was used by Van Gogh, Baudelaire, and Verlaine, to name but a few. It was believed to have stimulated creativity and to act as a curative and an aphrodisiac. But enough of me rambling on...read what the "Prague Post" had to say at the beginning of 1999...
So, who needs an eclipse????
The Brits may be wary...but fuck 'em...in Giesing on the night before the great eclipse of '99 it was a German-South African, a South African-Pomeranian and an Inca-Peruvian at work... By the way, is that a bottle of Becherovka I see in the bottom right-hand corner? SHUDDER!!
Tastes good eh Markus??
Maybe just a few more...Over and above the beer, wine, Jagermeister, Becherovka and whisky, we finished a bottle of Absinth between the three of us.
