Aaaah!! The mother of all birthday parties took place in the garden of my sister-in-law's house in Pretoria. 1255 Collins Avenue in Waverley had not seen debauchery such as this since our wedding reception in March 1995! Absinthe, Becherovka, Riga "Black Balsam" and all the usual drinks were there, as were some close friends: Hartmut von der Ohe & Judy de Bruyn, Gerhard & Liana Schröder, Francois & Marlene Vorster, Michael & Audrey Zeller, Schalk Vorster, Rosemary Williams, Christoff & Marianne Leistner, Arnold & Isolde Greyling, Tommy Fickl & his wife, Peter Olescak & his partner, William & Karen Language, Corné & Hanlie Oberholzer, Jaco Spies, Jeanette Leiberum & a friend, Jan & Anita Steyn, Lex & Cynthia Geddie, Henk & Irmgard Basson, Rob & Helga Watson, Richard & Darleen Archibald, Rita & George Childs, Janette & Keith Veitch, Alan and Sheridan Archibald & their Partners, Sas Sassenberg & his partner, Jean Cooper & Terry Moore, Chris Kruger & Louise Vosloo, Carl Frauenstein, Donald Massyn, Etienne Posthumus, some people I'm sure I've missed, and (last but not least) my mother, Joan Pautz.
The stragglers (Don, Mark, Debra, Hartmut and Judy) left at 05h30 the next morning! Only one regret - I wish Mike Zeller had stayed on his feet long enough for me to get a few more pictures of him!! ;-)
